Seminary education is an investment in the future. It is, however, an investment that can present a significant financial challenge to most students. Western Seminary is, and has long been, committed to making high-quality ministry preparation both accessible and affordable. Thanks to the generosity of our many friends and donors, and through careful stewardship of limited resources, our tuition continues to be among the most affordable in the nation among peer institutions.
The cost of education, however, is not limited to tuition. The cost of books relative to tuition has grown over the years and must be considered in any financial plan. Western Seminary, and the Center for Lifelong Learning, monitor the cost of texts to ensure that students are not asked to take on an unreasonable burden. Whenever possible and appropriate, texts are shared among courses within a discipline. When two texts are viewed to prepare students equally, our faculty will typically require the less-expensive of the two.
